Ariadna Laguna-Tuset, PhD

Associate Researcher at Fundacio Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron - Institut de Recerca

Location: Barcelona Spain

Dr. Ariadna Laguna is an associate researcher in the Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Group at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute in Barcelona, Spain, devoted to the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease. She completed her PhD in life sciences in 2008 under the supervision of Dr. Mariona Arbonés at the Center for Genomic Regulation in Barcelona, Spain. Her work was devoted to the study of DYRK1A kinase in the development of the nervous system. From 2009 to 2013, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory of Professor Thomas Perlmann at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in the Cell and Molecular Department at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. She focused on the role of developmental transcription (help decode genetic material) factors and the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease. To continue her work, in 2014, she obtained a mobility contract from the Catalan Agency for Research and Universities and joined the Neurodegenerative Diseases Group led by Professor Miquel Vila.
