Dr. White received his MD degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed anatomicpathology residency and neuropathology fellowship training at Johns Hopkins. He joined the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center as the director of the division of neuropathology in 1983, and continues in that role. He has held the rank of professor of pathology since 1997.

Dr. White has over 30 years of experience in studying the neuropathology of brain aging, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease and other Lewy body disorders. He has served as the neuropathology core leader of the NIH-funded Alzheimer Disease Center since the inception of funding at UT Southwestern in 1988. His research has focused on the morphologic alterations that serve as the substrates for clinical deficits in neurodegenerative disease. His primary research tools include immunohistochemistry and computer-assisted image analysis.

Dr. White holds the Nancy R. McCune Distinguished Chair in Alzheimer Disease Research, and is the Director of the Winspear Family Center for Research on the Neuropathology of Alzhiemer Disease.
