Christian Grimm is Professor of Organelle Biology and Pharmacology at Oxford and Professor of Molecular Pharmacology at the Walther-Straub-Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology, LMU Munich. He also serves as Head of the Department of Pharmacology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology in Munich. Professor Grimm has worked for over two decades on ion channels, particularly TRP channels, with experience spanning academia and industry (Pfizer, UK). His pioneering research on endolysosomal ion channels — TRPML and two-pore channels (TPCs) — has led to major publications in PNAS, EMBO Journal, Nature Communications, Nature Protocols, and Science. He has received multiple awards, including the Ernst-Reuter Award, the NCL Foundation Award, and the Care for Rare Award. Professor Grimm has an exemplary record in mentoring and career development.
