Daniel Charles Berwick, PhD

Location: London United Kingdom

Dr. Berwick has a broad interest in biomedical science, with a focus on neuronal cell signaling, and a side-interest in mathematical approaches to biology. Dr. Berwick attained a BSc in medical biochemistry from Leicester University, United Kingdom, and an MSc in biotechnology (with distinction) from DeMontfort University, United Kingdom. He performed his PhD research at Bristol University, United Kingdom, identifying two novel substrates of the kinase Akt/PKB. His first postdoc was at Columbia University, New York, investigating the role of Akt/PKB in learning. Dr. Berwick then moved to the Institute of Child Health, United Kingdom, to study the control of neuronal gene expression, where he also devised a method to predict protein complexes. Dr. Berwick recently moved to The School of Pharmacy where his work has implicated LRRK2 in canonical Wnt signaling. Dr. Berwick also holds a Graduate Certificate in Statistics (with merit) from Birkbeck College, United Kingdom.
