David Gerhold is a Toxicologist and Genomics research scientist with broad experience in academia, industry and government. During 13 years at the NIH National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, he has been passionate about identifying the causes of Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. Recently, his Lab has screened two libraries including the “Tox21 10K” environmental toxicant library and is characterizing chemical ‘hits’ and recurrent chemotypes as candidate causes for PD and other neurodegenerative diseases. Additionally, his Lab has is working to identify environmental toxicants that cause vascular toxicity and the pathways by which they lead to cardiovascular deaths. Since 1995, David has also pioneered genomic gene expression methods, analytical approaches, and applications to biology.
