Erik Årstad, PhD

Professor of Radiochemistry at University College London

Erik Årstad obtained a PhD in radiochemistry from the University of Oslo, Norway, in 2001. Following postdoctoral training at Imperial College London (2001 to 2002) and University College London (2003 to 2004) in the UK, he moved to Hammersmith Imanet Ltd (part of GE Healthcare) as a team leader for tracer discovery. In 2008, he returned to University College London where he founded the radiochemistry group and oversaw the design and construction of a preclinical radiochemistry lab (2008 to 2010), and a Good Manufacturing Practice Facility (2014 to 2017) for production of PET tracers for human imaging. Dr. Årstad was appointed professor of radiochemistry in 2015 and director of the Centre for Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry in 2019.
