Dr. Giovanna Lopane is a neurorehabilitation physician and researcher in the Movement Disorders Rehabilitation Division at the IRCCS Istituto delle Scienze Neurologiche di Bologna. She has over twenty years of experience in the clinical and rehabilitation assessment of Parkinson’s disease and atypical parkinsonian syndromes. Her expertise includes the kinetic-dynamic monitoring of levodopa response and side effects, using wearable inertial sensors to objectively quantify motor performance and gait disturbances.

She is actively involved in the management of Parkinson’s disease, including advanced therapies, and in the rehabilitation of complex motor symptoms. Her research integrates clinical practice with innovative methodologies, combining wearable sensor technologies and personalized, home-based rehabilitation strategies, particularly in individuals treated with deep brain stimulation. Her work focuses on validating digital motor outcomes in supervised and unsupervised settings to characterize real-world mobility.
