Jackalina VanKampen , PhD

Senior Research Scientist at Neurodyn, Inc.

Location: Charlottetown Canada

Dr. VanKampen is currently senior research scientist at Neurodyn Inc., and holds an adjunct professorship in the department of Biomedical Sciences at the Atlantic Veterinary College, UPEI. She was recruited to Neurodyn from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine where she held the position of assistant professor of molecular neuroscience. Parkinson's disease has been the main thrust of her career, beginning with graduate training under the supervision of Dr. Jon Stoessl, Director of the Pacific Parkinson's Research Centre and National Parkinson Foundation Centre of Excellence, UBC and continuing through postdoctoral training with Dr. Harold Robertson, co-founder of the Brain Repair Centre, Dalhousie University. She has established a research program focused, primarily, on neuroprotection and neuronal recovery in models of Parkinson's disease and more recently Alzheimer’s disease, integrating cellular, systemic and behavioural approaches. Jackalina is a member of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and sits as a member of the Research Panel.
