Jamie L. Adams, MD

Jamie Adams, MD, is an Associate Professor of Neurology, Chief of the Movement Disorders Division, and Associate Director of the Center for Health + Technology at the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on the use and evaluation of digital health technology, such aswearable sensors, smartphone applications and telemedicine, in individuals with neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Huntington’s disease. Incorporating these tools into clinical trials may improve outcome measures and facilitate development of therapeutics. To be useful as endpoints in clinical trials, digital measures must be meaningful to patients. As such, Dr. Adams has also led qualitative efforts to evaluate the most bothersome symptoms and impacts of disease, and determine the relevance of digital measures to individuals’ experiences of PD. Through this work, Dr. Adams hopes to advance the use of digital health technologies to facilitate development of meaningful therapies for people with movement disorders.
