Jeffrey N. Joyce, PhD

Dr. Joyce received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana Illinois, in 1977. He received his PhD in 1983 from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. He received further training as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California at Irvine, CA from 1983-1986. From 1986 to 1995 he was on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. In 1995 he joined Sun Health Research Institute to head the newly established Thomas H. Christopher Center for Parkinson's disease Research. He has published over 79 papers in scientific journals and 16 book chapters on topics related to Parkinson's disease, movement disorders and mental illness He has been the recipient of federal grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Aging, and National Institute of Neurological Disorders for over 16 years. He has also received grants from the American Federation for Aging Research, National Parkinson's Foundation, the Scottish Rite Research Foundation, and several pharmaceutical companies. In addition to his responsibilities at Sun Health Research Institute he is the director of the Arizona Parkinson's Disease Center; a statewide Parkinson's disease consortium supported through the Arizona Disease Control Research Commission.
