Jiajie Diao, PhD

Dr. Jiajie Diao is currently Assistant Professor of Cancer Biology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He was trained under Dr. Taekjip Ha at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, receiving his PhD in 2010, and completed his postdoctoral training under Dr. Axel Brunger at Stanford University. He started his own research lab at the University of Cincinnati in late 2015. Dr. Diao has broad training in biophysics, biochemistry, genetics, genomics and bioinformatics. He has extensive experience in membrane biophysics research and has developed multiple single-vesicle assays to study SNARE-mediated membrane fusion. He has published >70 peer-reviewed papers and has received numerous awards, including the Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation Prize and the IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Biological Physics. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Diao serves on the editorial boards of Scientific Reports, PLoS ONE and Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience.
