Dr. J. Kent Werner, Jr. is a board-certified neurologist, neuroscientist and biotech executive. He earned his medical degree and doctorate in cellular and molecular neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University, where he trained under Dr. Solomon Snyder and completed his neurology residency. For the last 12 years, he has actively conducted neuroscience research in the areas of neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation while caring for patients with neurological disorders including Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative disorders. He serves as adjunct/faculty in the Department of Neurology at Johns Hopkins and Uniformed Services University. As a Principal Investigator, he has secured over $10 million in funding, advancing the fields of neurodegeneration and traumatic brain injury with 30+ publications in neuroscience. As co-founder and CEO of Cogentis Therapeutics, he leads the development of a novel peptide therapeutic for neurodegenerative diseases, advancing it toward clinical trials.
