Maria Jose Martí, MD, PhD

Head of the Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders Unit at Neurosciences Clinic Institute of the Hospital Clinic

Maria Jose Martí, MD, PhD, has been head of the Parkinson and Movement Disorders Unit in the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona since 2009. She has been consult medical staff of the Neurology Service of the Hospital Clínic since 1991 and associated professor of the University of Barcelona since 1995. Dr. Martí’s main interest topics are Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders, and she has an important track record of publications in the field. Although she is currently more focused in clinical research, she has basic research experience having worked in apoptotic cell death, with a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Movement Disorders Division at Columbia University under the supervision of Dr. Robert Burke.
