Dr. Michel Barrot, PhD, is research director at the Institut des Neurosciences Cellulaires et Intégratives (INCI) from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in Strasbourg, France. He did his PhD training in the laboratory of Pr. Michel Le Moal, under the mentoring of Dr. Pier Vincenzo Piazza, at INSERM and Bordeaux University in France. After a postdoctoral training with Pr. Eric J. Nestler in the molecular psychiatry department at Yale University, he was assistant professor in the psychiatry department at the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and then recruited by the CNRS in France in 2003. Within INCI, Dr. Barrot is now team leader and directs research projects on the consequences and treatments of neuropathic pain and on the neuroanatomy and physiology of dopamine systems. He has authored 70 peer-reviewed publications in the fields of dopamine systems, addiction, mood disorders and pain.
