Peter A. Hardy, PhD

Dr. Hardy is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology at the University of Kentucky. He obtained his PhD in 1991 working with Dr. R. Mark Henkelman in the Department of Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto. Dr. Hardy’s PhD work focused on the effects on magnetic resonance images of iron in the brain as associated with Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Hardy then worked for seven years in Diagnostic Radiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation developing novel MR imaging techniques. In 1998 he moved to the University of Kentucky where he has been focusing on using magnetic resonance imaging for the determination of changes in the brain from neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Most recently he has focused his research work on MR imaging to monitor the distribution in the brain of therapeutic agents using convection enhanced delivery.
