Peter Thornton Fox, MD

Dr. Fox is the Founding Director of the Research Imaging Institute, the Malcolm Jones Professor of Radiology and Professor of Neurology, Psychiatry and Physiology at UT Health San Antonio. Dr. Fox received his MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC and a Neurology Residency at Washington University, St. Louis, MO. National Institutes of Health-funded research training included a T32 Fellowship Award and a K07 mentored Clinician Scientist Award developing neuropsychiatric applications of positron emission tomography (PET).

Since 1991, he has directed the Research Imaging Institute, an organized research unit supporting multimodality neuroimaging research. Dr. Fox’s research focuses on the development and application of image-derived biomarkers for neurologic, psychiatric and developmental disorders. In support of this objective, he leads the BrainMap project (www.brainmap.org), an online environment for quantitative, coordinate-based meta-analysis.
