Rebecca Pruss, PhD

Rebecca Pruss is Chief Scientific Officer for Trophos. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Illinois Institute of Technology, a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from U.C.L.A. and postdoctoral training at University College London and the NIH. Prior to joining Trophos in November 2002, Dr. Pruss spent more than 16 years with major pharmaceutical companies that now make up Sanofi-Aventis. As head of the Exploratory Research department for Sanofi-Synthelabo and Scientific Director of the group’s Strasbourg Research Center, Dr. Pruss was responsible for managing core discovery technologies such as high throughput screening, chemical library, structure-activity databases, genomic and proteomic technology, protein engineering and expression, enzymology and structural biology as well as a portfolio of discovery and development projects for targets and compounds implicated in a wide range of therapeutic indications. Since joining Trophos, Dr. Pruss directed the discovery and development of TRO19622, which is now in Phase 2, and TRO40303, which is completing regulatory preclinical studies. In addition to contributing to the identification and progression of over a dozen drug candidates during her career, she is named as co-inventor on several published and issued patents and has authored over 50 scientific articles.
