Roland D. Thijs, MD, PhD

Dr. Roland Thijs is an academic neurologist and clinical leader with a special expertise and interest in clinical autonomic nerve disorders. It is his mission to foster patient-centered and evidence-based care in the full range of disorders where derangements of the autonomic nervous system play a crucial role. His research work has a strong focus on clinical implementation. He is appointed as a consultant neurologist and a clinical director at Stichting Epilepsie Instellingen Nederland (SEIN), as a consultant neurologist and senior clinical lecturer at Leiden University Medical Centre and as an honorary research associate at the Queen Square Institute of Neurology, University College London. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. His expertise ranks in the top 0.15% of 14,438 published authors worldwide from 2010 through 2020 on syncope.
