Russell R. Lonser's laboratory studies methods for drug delivery to the central nervous system for treatment of neurologic disorders, including Parkinson’s disease.

Dr. Lonser received his medical degree from Loma Linda University Medical School in 1994 and completed his neurological surgery residency training at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center in 2001. During his residency training, he spent over two years performing basic and clinical research in the Surgical Neurology Branch (1995 to 1998) at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke at the National Institutes of Health. He returned to the Surgical Neurology Branch in 2001 as a Staff Clinician. He was awarded the Tumor Young Investigator Award in 2002 from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons Section on Tumors. He is Acting Chief of the Surgical Neurology Branch.
