Silvia Alicia Mandel, PhD

Dr. Silvia Mandel earned her PhD degree in pharmacology at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion Israel Institute of Technology. Currently vice-director of the Eve Topf Center of Excellence for Neurodegenerative Diseases Research at the Technion in Haifa, Israel, Mandel works on neurodegeneration and neuroprotection in Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Silvia Mandel is engaged in a number of projects at the Center, as well as in collaboration with other centers in Israel and around the world. Dr. Mandel won the Senior Researcher Award at the 16th International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease in Berlin in 2005, the distinguished article award from The EPMA Journal in 2011 and since 2009, has served as vice president of "EPMA" (European Association for Predictive, Preventive & Personalized Medicine, www.epmanet.eu). Mandel has published nearly 100 original contributions, book chapters and conference proceedings. She is a series/volume editor of Handbook of Neurochemistry, the EPMA Journal, Journal of Neural Transmission and Advances in Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine.
