Stella Vukelić obtained bachelor’s and a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. After spending a year in industry, working as research analyst for TEVA, Croatia, she started her doctoral studies at Max Planck Institute in Berlin, Germany. After receiving her PhD, she worked at the medicinal chemistry department at Galapagos NV, Belgium for three years. At Galapagos NV, she worked in different therapeutic areas (immunology, metabolic diseases and virology) and contributed to projects in different stages of drug discovery process. In 2019, she joined AbbVie Germany, where she works in the medicinal chemistry department supporting neurodegeneration. Recently, her work focused on developing PET tracers to monitor disease progression and drug efficacy in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
