Thorsten Lührs, PhD

Dr. Lührs is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Prosperodes GmbH, and a consultant to Phalanx GmbH, a subsidiary of Prosperodes. His scientific focus lies on the development of novel technologies to expand the capabilities of seed amplification assays.

By training, Dr. Lührs is a biophysicist and structural biologist, with a strong interest in protein folding and misfolding throughout his entire career. He earned his PhD in the NMR Group of Prof. Kurt Wüthrich at ETH Zürich, where he worked on protein misfolding in human prion disease and BSE. He continued to work on the structural biology of prion diseases as well as of other proteinopathies such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, as a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute and as an Emmy Nöther junior group leader at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig.
