Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) Patient Council member and music producer Sebastian Krys has had his hand in some of the biggest music albums we know — from Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Juanes and Elvis Costello — earning him 13 Latin GRAMMY and seven GRAMMY wins in his career.

Since going public with his diagnosis in 2019, the Argentine-born producer has used his platform to raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s research. Speaking with People en Español, Sebastian shared why sharing his story with his Latin music industry peers has been important:

“It's a disease that seems like it only affects older white men – but that’s not true. This disease affects everyone, of any color, race or gender.”

For the past decade he’s devoted his time and resources to Los Producers, an annual event bringing together the Latin music industry’s biggest and rising stars to raise money for various causes on the eve of the Latin Grammys. Last year the Los Producers Charity Show on November 17 — held in Las Vegas and bringing over 20 artists on-stage — raised over $130,000 with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to speeding the Foundation’s global research programs.

It was a star-studded evening, bringing together friends and supporters for a night filled with Latin musical talent to perform their favorite cover songs. The evening included performances from: Luis Fonsi, Juanes, Elvis Costello, Cami, Fito Páez, Jorge Drexler, Sin Bandera, Pedro Capo, Fonseca, Grupo Diez 4tro, Silvana Estrada, Nicole Zignano, Cande y Paulo, Nabález, Vale, Kurt, Wiplash, Conociendo Rusia, Omy de Oro, Franky Perez, Lasso, Loyal Lobo and Yubeili.

Feeling the love and support from the Latin music industry and over 500 guests, Sebastian who performed his guitar on-stage throughout the night shared on Instagram:

“It’s hard to articulate what I felt last night. All the love, support and generosity from all the artists, musicians, crew, and staff. I felt more than ever the healing power of music. Running up to the show I didn’t think I would make it through one song, but the energy I felt in that room lifted me through the entire set. Thank you!”
