Moving a Cure -- and Fitness Goals -- over the Finish Line

New year, the same resolution to exercise more? Need new #MotivationMonday inspiration? Kick-start your health and fitness goals in 2018 with The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Fox Trot 5K Run/Walk signature series. These family-friendly events help forge connections within the Parkinson’s community and raise critical funds to help bring new treatments and eventually, a cure, to those with the disease. And while competitive runners are welcome to try for a personal record, Fox Trots are open to athletes of all abilities, speeds and experience levels.

In 2017, The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) held four Fox Trots in Boston, California's Bay Area, Los Angeles and New York City. More than 1,700 people came out to walk, jog and run together, including families, caregivers and 64 people living with PD. The events raised more than $430,000 total, with 100 percent of all proceeds going directly to MJFF’s high-impact research programs to speed a cure.

“Supporting the Foundation has allowed my family and me to come to terms with my mom’s Parkinson's diagnosis in a way that feels positive. Having an avenue to actively fundraise and advocate keeps us hopeful that a cure is possible,” says Elizabeth Grant, whose "Debra’s Dream Team" has raised $38,740 through the New York City Fox Trot. “Additionally, meeting so many incredibly inspiring individuals who have not let PD thwart them help us understand how people with Parkinson’s can lead lives full of love, joy, achievement and happiness.”

In 2018, this signature series will return to Boston, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York and expand to include Orlando, Florida, with more locations and dates to be announced. And the first run/walk is scheduled for March 25 at Griffith Park in Los Angeles.

When you sign up, you’ll join thousands of grassroots fundraisers worldwide who are dedicated to supporting MJFF’s mission of accelerating a cure.
