Eduardo Rigon Zimmer, BPharm, MSc, PhD

Eduardo Zimmer is an assistant professor at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), an adjunct professor at McGill University (Canada) and an associate researcher at the Brain Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). He has won multiple awards, including the Best Brazilian PhD thesis (2016) and the Alzheimer's Association One to Watch Award (2021). Dr. Zimmer has also been nominated to the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and has become an Instituto Serrapilheira grantee. He has published more than 90 articles in peer-reviewed journals including Nature Medicine, Nature Neuroscience, JAMA Neurology, PNAS and Brain. According to Google Scholar, he has more than 3,500 citations and an H index of 33. His laboratory focuses on understanding the cellular origins of neurodegeneration, with a particular interest in astrocytes. Dr. Zimmer is committed to training the next generation of Brazilian researchers in the field of neurodegeneration.
