Marco Antônio De Bastiani, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul

Location: Porto Alegre Brazil

Dr. Marco De Bastiani’s research involves the application of systems biology, bioinformatics and 'omics technologies to tackle and solve biological problems. This systems view approach enables more reliable and robust representations of biological reality. His academic training and research experience involved multiple biological disciplines including molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry and biostatistics. He also developed skills in data science applied to biology, such as machine learning, R and Python programming languages, microarray and RNAseq bioinformatics analyses and systems biology. His doctoral research used network biology, systems pharmacology and 'omics data analyses and integration to explore lung cancer. During his PhD, he also participated in collaborations aiming to use systems biology strategies in neurosciences, including Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases.
