Location: New York, New York, United States
David Sulzer received a PhD in biology from Columbia in 1988 and is a professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Pharmacology and Neurology at Columbia University. His laboratory introduced the mechanism of action by which amphetamine works, developed the first methods to directly measure synaptic vesicle release of neurotransmitter from central synapses and the first means to optically measure neurotransmission, and has introduced new hypotheses of neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease and habit learning. He is the coordinator of the postdoctoral training program in basic neuroscience at Columbia. More detailed information is available from the laboratory web page at Sulzer Laboratory.
