With only a few weeks left in 2013, Yahoo! host and finance expert Farnoosh Torabi appeared on NBC's "Today" show to share qualities one should look for in a charity as part of year-end giving contributions. One of the items mentioned included the organization’s transparency in the amount of money they are raising and allocating toward their mission, with Farnoosh recommending 75 percent as a good benchmark.
On her list of highly-rated and transparent charities was The Michael J. Fox Foundation, where 89 cents of every dollar spent goes to high-impact research in pursuit of better therapeutic treatments for patients. To date, the Foundation has funded over $375 million in research efforts worldwide.
