Each year, The Michael J. Fox Foundation acquires a talented pool of interns who lend their skills to our mission to cure Parkinson's, and experience the day-to-day operations at a fast-paced nonprofit.

Today’s post features a Q&A with Jenna Minetola, a 2013 graduate of DeSales University, who is interning with the Development team. 

What does a typical day look like for you?

I start my day really early in the morning with a commute from Wikes-Barre, PA to NYC, so the first thing I do is grab a cup of coffee! Once I get to the office, some of my responsibilities include: data entry, filing documents and assisting with special event preparations. Last week, I was also fortunate enough to help prepare and attend Team Fox's Annual MVP Awards Dinner. While helping our 400+ guests locate their nametags, it was so great to meet and chat with many of them!

What first got you interested in fundraising and events?

At DeSales University, I was heavily involved with clubs and internships that required work in both fundraising and event planning. All of those experiences- along with my degree in Public Relations- steered my career goals in the direction of nonprofit work, specifically in fundraising and event coordination.

What do you hope to take away from your time at MJFF?

I hope to learn as much about MJFF as possible! It is truly a remarkable organization that I will spport years after my internship ends. I know that my time at MJFF will prepare me for a career in the nonprofit sector and I look forward to seeing how my knowledge in the field expands!
