Taryn Fixel

Food Technology Entrepreneur and Journalist

Taryn Fixel is a food technology entrepreneur and journalist. She is the founder of ingredient1, a food+tech startup acquired by Target Corporation and named one of "3 Big Ideas Changing the Way We Eat" by Inc Magazine. Their mission is to bring transparency to the food chain and make better food more accessible to everyone.

Prior to ingredient1, Ms. Fixel was an award-winning documentary and investigative journalist developing original programming for CNN and CBS News. She has produced over 20 documentaries on a wide array of subjects, including the Arab Spring, the war on terror, the US criminal justice system and the 2008 elections. Her work received multiple Peabody awards, as well as New York Festival gold and silver medals for social issue documentary and best investigative long-form report.

She is a graduate of the University of Michigan.


The Leadership Council members are advisors and ambassadors to the Foundation providing leadership, financial support and strategic insight about how we can more effectively advance progress toward a cure.
