Joseph Nicolazzo, PhD

Associate Professor and Associate Dean at Monash University

Location: Melbourne VIC Australia

Joseph Nicolazzo is a world authority on molecular transport processes across biological membranes and drug delivery mechanisms, including through the skin and buccal mucosa and the blood-brain barrier. He uses a host of in vitro and in vivo approaches to identify molecular factors affecting BBB transport of endogenous and exogenous molecules, the regulation of BBB membrane and intracellular transporters and determining how alterations to the BBB in disease impact on BBB trafficking processes. His expertise includes formulation and conjugation approaches to enhance drug delivery. He is an Associate Professor in Drug Delivery, Disposition and Dynamics in the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean for Graduate Research in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University.
