Dr. Kristen Severson, PhD, is a senior researcher at Microsoft Research New England. Her research interests include the design and implementation of machine-learning models which encode prior knowledge to improve decision making and in health care applications. Dr. Severson completed her BS at Carnegie Mellon University and PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Microsoft Research, she was a researcher at IBM Research.
