Dr. Marta Martinez-Vicente received her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology in 2004 under the supervision of Dr. Armengod at the CIPF in Valencia, Spain. In 2004 she joined the group of Dr. Ana Maria Cuervo at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York as a postdoctoral researcher to study the role of autophagy in neurodegenerative diseases and aging. In 2010, she joined the Neurodegenerative Diseases Group led by Dr Miquel Vila at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) as a Miguel Servet Researcher. Currently she is a senior principal investigator (“Miguel Servet II-A”/associate professor), and her team is devoted to study the role of autophagy and lysosomal dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases and to develop new therapeutic modulators of autophagy.
