Snezana Maljevic, PhD

Senior Research Fellow/Laboratory Head at Florey Institute for Neuroscience and Mental Health

Location: Melbourne VIC Australia

Snezana Maljevic is an experienced molecular neuroscientist and disease biologist with recognized expertise in functional genomics of epilepsy. She has made significant contributions to the understanding of the genetic and functional basis of epileptic and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her work currently focuses on the development of antisense oligonucleotide approaches to modulate expression of genes linked to neurogenetic diseases using her skills in designing antisense oligonucleotides and developing screening assays, including cellular screens from patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells. She has successfully developed ASOs that down-regulate or up-regulate expression of target genes and two major studies in collaboration with Ionis Pharmaceuticals and other commercial partners are in the final pre-submission stage.
