Weiguo Andy Tao, PhD, serves as a chief scientific officer at Tymora Analytical Operations and as a professor of biochemistry at Purdue University. He has strong interest and expertise in developing novel chemistry approaches to solving important biological questions, with a special emphasis on characterizing proteins involved in the normal and abnormal functions of the cell using state-of-the-art analytical tools. Through several collaborations, his active research laboratory has established the groundwork for dissecting inner workings of the cell, mapping molecular interactions and identifying drug targets within the cell. Introducing a number of research techniques has made that possible. Much of Dr. Tao's work involves local and international collaborations. For the past 12 years, his research laboratory has trained 21 undergraduate students, three Master's students, 20 doctoral students, seven postdoctoral fellows and five visiting scholars. His expertise and unique tools used in his research have propelled many research projects in disciplines including cancer biology, immunology, neurodegeneration and plant stresses on Purdue campus and beyond.
