Director of the Laboratory for Early Markers of Neurodegeneration at Tel Aviv Medical Center

Location: Tel Aviv Israel

Prof. Anat Mirelman is an associate professor at Sackler School of Medicine and Sagol School of Neuroscience at Tel Aviv University and the director of the Laboratory for the study of Early Markers of Neurodegeneration (LEMON) in the Neurological Institute at Tel Aviv Medical Center. Her expertise and research interests are in understanding aging and neurodegenerative disease such as Parkinson's disease (PD), the use of wearable devices for sensitive diagnostics and monitoring and the identification of early markers of disease. In the past 12 years, Prof. Mirelman has been leading the 'Genetics in Parkinson's disease project', which is one of the largest cohorts of LRRK2 and GBA mutation carriers. Studying this cohort has facilitated better understanding of the natural progression of the disease and genotype-phenotype relationships and has enabled the exploration of clinical, imaging, biological and digital predicative markers of disease. This work has led to many publications in peer-reviewed journals and international collaborations.
