Oguz Akbilgic, PhD

Dr. Oguz Akbilgic received his undergraduate training in Mathematics and his Phd in Quantitative Methods at Istanbul University in Turkey. He also received his master’s degree in Statistics at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. He then received two postdoctoral trainings at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and the University of Calgary in Canada focusing on artificial intelligence and statistical modeling methodology and applications.

Dr. Akbilgic joined the Center for Biomedical Informatics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 2015. His research covers theoretic development and applications of artificial intelligence methodologies to improve clinical decision-making. Dr. Akbilgic is specifically interested in research on analysis of electric activity of a heart to find EKG markers associated with various health outcomes including cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
