The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) joins the Parkinson's community worldwide in mourning the untimely loss of an active leader and a good friend, Tom Isaacs, president of The Cure Parkinson's Trust, which he co-founded in 2005. Tom passed away unexpectedly on May 31 at age 49.

"Tom's passion, determination and hard work on behalf of everyone living with Parkinson's were the hallmark of his life and will be his continuing legacy in our community," said Michael J. Fox. "Our Foundation was fortunate to know him and to partner with The Cure Parkinson's Trust toward our shared mission to speed a cure."

Diagnosed with Parkinson's at age 26, Tom had a personal understanding of the needs of the community and was a trailblazer in advocating on behalf of his fellow patients. As a longstanding and committed collaborator with MJFF, The Cure Parkinson's Trust is a leader in pushing forward several priorities shared by our Foundation, including supporting innovative, promising science, raising awareness about the need for clinical trial participation, and promoting initiatives to educate and engage more patients in Parkinson's research. We remain committed to this work in pursuit of a cure and celebrate Tom's vision and impact in our field.

The leadership and staff at MJFF offer our sincerest condolences to Tom's family and the team at The Cure Parkinson's Trust.
