Last year, 10 Team Fox members, including me, took on the challenge of a lifetime: summiting 19,341 vertical feet of Tanzania’s Mt. Kilimanjaro – the world’s tallest free standing mountain.  August 28, 2012 – a beautiful, clear and crisp day – is one none of us will forget.

The six day trek up the Machame route would test the group, with long days, cold temperatures and increasing altitude.  But the training we put in leading up to the climb, along with our other main goal – helping fight Parkinson’s disease – kept us going.  As it would for Roger Long, a member of our team with young-onset Parkinson’s.  Roger contacted us the day we posted about the climb on Facebook and signed up within minutes.  He considers that post to have altered the trajectory of his life and he inspired us all each day.  From Roger’s Team Fox page, “the Kilimanjaro climb was a tough challenge, but not as tough as the challenges faced every day by those living with Parkinson's disease.”

You too can experience this life-changing adventure by signing up for our 2013 expedition!  By participating with Team Fox, your trip costs, including accommodations in Tanzania prior to and after the climb, all food on the mountain, airport transport and park fees will be covered (excluding airfare).  You’ll have an experienced team to guide you up the mountain and provide you with all the necessary information you need prior to the trip, including recommended training and gear, and what to expect on Mt. Kilimanjaro.
