“A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s” This Weekend (VIDEO)

This past weekend we hosted our annual gala “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s” in New York. It was an amazing night of comedy and music. Denis Leary hosted the event and kicked it off with an original song about Michael J. Fox that had the crowd in hysterics. Lyrics included "Everyone is wondering how long I'm going to last. I'm Michael J. Fox, I'm kicking Parkinson's a—." Michael later joked that he would use the number as his theme song for his new show.

Presenters ranged from Katie Couric, Bill Geist, Willie Geist, Donny Deutsch, Chris Cosentino, Tracy Pollan and Amanda Peet. The centerpiece of the evening included comedy from Louis CK and music performance by Elvis Costello. You can follow the night on Twitter: #foxgala.

The event was attended by 950 and raised over $4.5 million. Our Board of Directors underwrites the cost of the event so all the money raised goes to Parkinson's research. In his remarks Michael J. Fox said, “There’s nothing we can't achieve together; thank you for everything you do.”’

Watch Michael and Elvis Costello in the clip, performing "Pump It Up."
