Location: Jouy-en-Josas France

Baptiste Bessière has an engineering diploma in biotechnology from the INSA Toulouse (France). He then performed his PhD in Neuroscience and Neuropharmacology at the University of Bordeaux in collaboration with Air Liquide. The aim of his thesis was to re-evaluate the preventive and the curative effect of nitrous oxide in pre-clinical models of chronic pain. His work was published in scientific articles and was presented at national and international congresses. First prizes for abstract presentations were obtained in 2008 at the SFAR (French anesthesia congress) and in 2010 at the European Society of Anesthesiologist Congress. Some of his work is now being explored further in clinical trials managed by Air Liquide.

Following his PhD, he joined the Medical Gases Group of Air Liquide Santé International as a R&D Scientific Expertise - Preclinical Study Manager. His main goals are to find new applications for medical gases in the CNS domain and to coordinate pre-clinical studies. In 2011, an award was obtained from The Michael J. Fox Foundation to evaluate the effect of xenon in the treatment of L-Dopa induced dyskinesia in pre-clinical models.
