Antony A. Cooper, PhD

Antony Cooper is a senior research scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Sydney, Australia. He is also a conjoint associate professor at the University of New South Wales where he is head of a neurodegeneration laboratory focusing on Parkinsonís Disease. He received his PhD from McGill University in Montreal before undertaking postdoctoral studies at the University of Oregon with Professor Tom Stevens. He was appointed a faculty member at the University of Missouri in 1996. He moved to the Garvan Institute in 2006 where his interests in protein misfolding and degradation, oxidative stress, membrane trafficking and model systems converged into a focus on Parkinsonís disease. He has published in a range of journals including Science, Molecular Cell, Nature Genetics and the Journal of Cell Biology.
