Thomas Foltynie, PhD, MD, MRCP, is an academic neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the University College London (UCL) Institute of Neurology. He trained in medicine at UCL then undertook his PhD and his neurology training at the University of Cambridge, with a thesis entitled ďThe Incidence and Heterogeneity of Parkinsonís Disease in Cambridgeshire.Ē Prof. Foltynie has been formally trained in epidemiology and biostatistics, and is now leading major research projects in Parkinsonís disease. These include studies of brain imaging and genetics, as well as the use of pharmacological, surgical and cell-based approaches to improve symptom control and long-term outcome for Parkinsonís patients.
