Anja Schneider, MD, is senior physician and head of the Memory Clinic and its Clinical Study Center at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University Medical Center Goettingen, and coordinates the clinical research activities at the Goettingen site of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases. After her study of medicine at the University of Heidelberg and Hamburg, Dr. Schneider did her psychiatry and psychotherapy residency at the Clinic for Neurology, University of Tuebingen and at the Clinic of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University of Goettingen. Having finished her doctoral thesis in the laboratory of E. Mandelkow (Max-Planck-Group for Structural Molecular Biology, Hamburg) and a post-graduate course of molecular biology at the Hamburg University, she worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Neurodegeneration, Clinic of Neurology, University of Tuebingen and at the MPI Experimental Medicine in Goettingen. Her work there focused on cell biology of neurodegenerative diseases, and Dr. Schneider’s current work is on the interface of basic research and clinical research in the field of degenerative dementia.
