Laura Cendron, PhD

Dr. Laura Cendron is a biochemist at the Department of Biology at the University of Padova, Italy. In 2001, she received her masters of science degree in chemistry and, in 2005, a PhD in chemistry at the University of Padova. From 2005 to 2012, she has worked as a post-doctoral fellow. During her scientific career, she developed competence in the field of structural biology, focusing her research on structural and functional aspects of bacterial proteins as well as human targets, such as transthyretin, whose alterations are responsible for familial forms of amyloidosis. Since 2012, she has served as an assistant professor at the Department of Biology where she applies her structural biology expertise in the fields of calcium signaling, mitochondrial physiology and Parkinson's disease. In 2013, she was awarded the "Premio Nardelli" (AIC association, member of IUCr) for an outstanding Italian Young Crystallographer.
