“If It’s Important Work on Parkinson’s, We’re Doing It.” Michael J. Fox on the Cover of American Way Magazine.

It is the busiest travel season of the year, and those in flight this month on American Airlines will find a familiar face on the cover of American Way, the carrier’s onboard publication. In the December issue, Michael J. Fox and the Foundation are featured. Magazine editor and Back to the Future fan Adam Pitluk sat down with Michael to discuss his full-time return to television as well as the wide-ranging work of the Foundation to find a cure for Parkinson’s in our lifetime.

One of the topics covered in the article is the role of genetics in Parkinson’s. As Michael told American Way, “There’s an expression we use all the time: Genetics loads the gun, and environment pulls the trigger.” Today, the Foundation is exploring the role genetics plays in Parkinson’s through its landmark, biomarker study called the Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative.  Michael added, “We cover a huge range of possible causes…If it’s important work on Parkinson’s, we’re doing it.”
